Why I'm Voting for Texas Congressman Ron Paul in the 2012 Presidential Election
71
Who is Ron Paul?
12 term Texas Congressman, Ron Paul, is a true champion of the Constitution. He is a Christian, doctor, politician and a family man. Unlike most politicians, however, Dr. Paul is an honest man.
Ron Paul was born and raised in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He graduated from Gettysburg College, before getting his Ph.D. from Duke University School of Medicine.
In 1963, Ron Paul was drafted into the U.S. Airforce. He proudly served America as a flight surgeon for 4 years.
After moving to Texas in 1968, Dr. Paul began his own medical practice in Brazoria County. Dr. Paul is a specialist in obstetrics/gynecology, and has delivered more than 4,000 babies.
Ron Paul and his wife Carol, who reside in Lake Jackson, Texas, are the proud parents of 5 children and have 17 grandchildren.
Ron Paul joined congress in the 1970's when the dollar was completely delinked from gold, because he feared that this new monetary policy would usher in decades of reckless spending, debt, and inflation.
Dr. Paul was right. We have not once had a balanced budget in over 40 years since the removal of the gold standard.

Educate Yourself
Ron Paul is the first serious presidential candidate we've had in a long time. That's why he has such a grassroots following.
If you are unfamiliar with his stances, please take some time and inform yourself.
Google "Ron Paul" or search for his speeches, highlights, and full debates on Youtube. Take some time to check out his site (RonPaul2012.com), and see what he stands for.
This man is the first politician since JFK to have our best interest in mind. He knows how to get the country back on track, and he strikes fear into the hearts of the status quo.
That's why he has mostly been ignored by the mainstream media, although it is no doubt becoming increasingly more difficult for them to ignore the man.
We are the richest nation in the world, and yet our middle class is shrinking every day. Our government is borrowing over three billion dollars every day just to pay its obligations.
We cannot allow the government to keep spending so much. We simply can't afford it. Every great nation has fallen due to economic ruin, and we're heading down that road.
Ron Paul wants to make 1 trillion dollars in budget cuts the first year, and balance the budget (and possibly create a surplus) by his third year as President.
No other candidate has a plan that even comes close to what Dr. Paul is proposing. The other candidates are projecting 10 to 15 years for recovery, because none of the other candidates are serious about cutting spending.
Come on America... we proved that we weren't racist by electing Barack Obama. Now let's prove we're not retarded by electing Ron Paul.
Help us restore the country to its former glory and beyond. Elect a man who can affect real change in our country for the better.

Right on brother. I came to support Ron Paul after doing a little research on the pointless wars waged by the United States. I hope the people realize that a vote for any other candidate makes it an almost absolute certainty that there will be a war with Iran. Also, with legislation like SOPA and the NDAA, we need him more than ever to protect our civil and economic liberties! Great Hub! Voting Up and will be following. I
Not to be a downer but voting for Ron is no different than voting for Obama, he is a blatant liberal! He has a few conservative thoughts but his outspoken naivity over Iran scares the hell outa me! Iran has said they will use nuclear weapons on us and Israel! That in itself is enough reason to ignore Ron liberal Paul!
AR ... you must be confusing Ron Paul with someone else. He's basically a libertarian constitutionalist, and there isn't a liberal bone in his body, other than the personal kindness and charity type.
AR, no Ron Paul is not a liberal. He believes in having an actual declaration of war which we have not had since WW2. Furthermore, Iran never said they wanted to bomb Israel or the United States. That is pure propaganda. Ron Paul is the only candidate who has thought through the consequences of going to war with Iran. The consequences would lead to oil prices skyrocketing which would shatter our already broken economy. The U.S. is already essentially bankrupt. Another war would push us further into the debt abyss.
He wants to lower the corporate tax and regulations to make America more competitive in the market. It is pretty hard to get below that rate that GE is getting. 0% I believe. You can give companies tax free status and they will still go to China. We compete with slave labor. I think that Paul supports a Tariff which I like, but I can't get over his social views. I think that legalizing/decriminalizing/moving the decision to the states view on drugs is more destruction than anything. America will be the unproductive land of fat drug addicts in 20 years if drugs are decriminalized. I responded to your comment on my hub.
Am I going to start doing drugs, no. I am an adult that doesn't do foolish things due to peer pressure. Are kids more likely to use drugs if they are readily available. YES, without a doubt. Can you deny that? You are hurting other people. You are hurting the country by creating a drug addicted dependant on the state class. A bunch of theives that can't hold jobs. A bunch of kids with out parenting. What is the benefit? Drugs are nothing but destructive.
If murder was legal would you become a murderer? So we should legalize murder. Do you see how weak this arguement is? Unfortunately, it is parroted by every Ron Paul supporter around
Our corperate tax rates are not america's problem. Our excessive regulations that stop competition are the problem. Taxes have been low since Bush, where are the jobs? It isn't a tax problem. It is a unfair labor exchange with China and Mexico. Free trade has been a disaster.
Taxes are not low, and once Obama care hits we're all in for a rude awakening. We just sold a family farm ... the capital gains taxes are almost 25% of the sale!
Capital gains is a different tax. That is Obama sticking it to the rich and stopping investment in America. Corperate income taxes are not high. They were higher from the 1940's to the 1980's than they are right now. Why did we have jobs in the 1940-1970's if corperate taxes were the problem?
Michiganman, the thing is drugs are more readily available in public schools because there is a great profit incentive since drugs are on the black market. Marijuana was much easier to get ahold of than alcohol when I was in school. Furthermore, you must really not think you own your body since you think it is ok for the government to tell you what to put in it.
Here's my article on Ron Paul.
Mason, who are you giving your Cocaine and heroin prescriptions to? Or are they uncontrolled drugs sold at the gas station? If they are controlled then they will still be sold at schools just like Vicodin is sold there now. Let's sell Vicodin at the gas station. Who are these doctors to tell us what we can have.
All that you are doing is making those drugs more available for consumption. Ron Paul and his agenda will only dumb down America further than we have already been dumbed down. Hey look at the bright side. Coca cola will be able to go back to the original formula and put cocaine back into their products. You won't be able to get enough of it.
Ok, let's say hypothetically that drugs became legal. Look at Portugal. They have completely decriminalized drug use and have lower drug use than the U.S. Research what has occurred in the Netherlands. They have allowed the use of and distribution of marijuana for a very long time and the rate of drug use is much lower than it is here. Once again, you allow the government to regulate a little bit of what you put in your body and they will regulate everything you put in your body(i.e. raw milk, natural health supplements, etc.
The War on Drugs has killed and/or shattered the lives of many more people than the drugs themselves. You see, most importantly you are in the wrong because you are advocating the use of aggressive force against people who are not harming you; people who are simply taking a substance you don't approve of. The War on Drugs has failed. The government cannot save people from themselves.
Thank you for this excellent article. I think Ron Paul is great. I agree with most of his ideas, some strongly. Welcome to the HubPages Community!
Another great article dude,,the war on drugs has been a complete disaster. Ron Paul 2012!
I've had my head in the sand in regards to politics for the past while, and I'm not American (Irish) so I didn't know much about this man before coming here. Thanks for the informative hub.
I absolutely love Ron Paul so I appreciate this wonderful article. If only more people were informed of him, he would have overwelming support.
I love Ron Paul
So, let's create a Ron Paul landslide!
